Big Freeze of January 2010

Thought I would add in some photos that Niall took of the snow and weather conditions here in the countryside of Surrey, England. Niall walked across the road, into the Norbury Woods and adjacent fields, to photograph most of the scenery (except the top pictures, which show our back garden covered in snow).

The snow began on the evening of Tuesday, 5 January, and we are still facing freezing temperatures and some snow flurries today, Sunday 10 January. We continue to be blanketed in white . . . it is truly beautiful and incredibly alien to a Texas gal.

Branduff and Niall should be returning to school and work tomorrow; although many side roads are still icy since they haven't been treated with grit. I believe that Branduff's school is still covered in snow, so the kids will be walking up the big hill to get to the campus.

In the meantime, enjoy the snow. I especially ordered it for my 50th birthday, which is tomorrow, 11 January!

Love these pictures. There is a soft rosy glow to them and the blue is so pretty too. Eventhough snow can be a hindrance to travel, it is so pretty.
