Snow, snow, snow
The SE of England has been blanketed by an unusually large amount of snow since nightfall. We are guessing that we have about 7 inches of snow in our back garden. And, it is still snowing!
My dear son is celebrating the fact that he's only managed to have one day of school under his belt for the new year! His school is still open -- they have boarders -- however, it's near to impossible to get there as the side roads aren't gritted. We have some poky little roads leading up to the school. In other words, he's not going to school today.
Hubby is home, too, so it is a pleasant extension of the holidays.
I also recall looking up to heavens around Christmas and asking Him up above if I could have some snow for my birthday. I'm feeling rather blessed right now. LOL!
I have been trying to feed my birds, who are desperate to eat but finding the snow hard going. I was able to clear off the large ground food platform I have for the ground-feeding birds. The food tubes are all working -- not frozen! We've had lots of feathered guests this morning.
Doggy Sophie finds the snow exhilarating, and it's hard to get her back inside after a romp. Once she's in, she spends five minutes pulling little off her extensive fur!
As it is the Epiphany, or Twelfth Day, I need to finish putting away my decorations. How sad! The Christmas tree and twinkling lights look so lovely next to the white of the garden. So that's what I will be doing today . . . as well as making some borscht. Feels like the perfect weather for soup.
