Kathryn poses with a young pouty Branduff back in 1997. Kathryn hails from Castroville,Texas, where her parents Bobbi and Joe still live on the banks of the Medina River.

Branduff is pictured when he was 2 1/2 years. After starting preschool at Yorkshire Academy in Houston, Texas, he then attended Aberdour School in England from 2000-2002. Upon returning to Houston, Branduff completed second and third grades at the Banff School. Now Branduff has become an integral part of Trinity Lutheran School, where he is preparing to enter seventh grade. Branduff plays flute in the band and loves history, science and math. His best friends are Ryan and Jay.

Kathryn, Niall & Branduff McAllister currently live in Spring, Texas, which is on the northern reaches of Houston. In fact, we're not too far away from the Bush International Airport, so we encourage our friends to come for a visit!

We returned to the Houston area after a two-year stint in Surrey, England. Two years was much too short, and it seemed I had just gotten to know my way around and make friends at the time the company moved us back to Texas.

Niall had mixed feelings about returning to Houston. He was pretty tired of the daily commute into London, which involved a hair-raising drive to the train station via an overused country road, an over-crammed and overheated train ride into the city, a mad dash to jump on the busy tube, and a final jog to the office by foot. The trip into work averaged an hour and a half each way. Grueling.

Niall has been a geophysicist with Exxon since 1982. He offices in the Greenspoint area, which is an easy drive from our home.

Branduff was born 19 September 1995 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while we were on an expatriate assignment. We lived in KL for almost four years and made a number of wonderful friends.

Moving around has played havoc with my so-called career, which began as a journalist with the Houston Chronicle newspaper, veered into publications and desktop publishing at Rice University, went wandering into magazine editing while in Malaysia, and even traveled into web designing and teaching computer science to elementary students. Today, I spend most of my time managing my small retail businesses. In particular, I have a rubber stamping and scrapbooking shop at Tomball Arts & Crafts Mall. Niall was born in Ballyclare, N. Ireland, where his father, David, still lives in the 100-year-old homestead. Niall's brother Robert and sister-in-law Jane live in Aberdeen, Scotland.
