The lovely snapdragon, or Antirrhinum to its
more sophisticated gardening friends. Niall loves the crimson
or scarlet ones pictured above. Our summer garden at Keepers
Cottage was full of them in the summer of 2000. The crimson snapdragons
started as wee plants, and kept growing and growing and growing,
until these massive blooms finally exploded! We had the most
fun watching bumble bees magically open the mouth of the dragon
and crawl inside for goodies. This summer, we have planted snapdragons
of every color, including Niall's beloved crimson! It's going
to be a lovely year for flowers! |
