Myrtou Bay in Kefalonia, Greece, August 2000
According to the travel agent in Kefalonia, Myrtou Bay is supposed to be the most photographed beach on the island, and it often appears on the cover of many Greece travel brochures. We took photos of the bay way up high, and then we went down below to investigate the beach.
The beach was horribly crowded, and it was difficult to park the car. The beach was not so much sandy as shale-like, and was hard on the feet. Watch little ones because there was a fierce undertoe at this beach. Great waves for the older set inclined for body surfing. We quickly returned to the calm waters of Skala beach.
